The Queen's Baton Relay
A Celebration of Community and Commonwealth
Residents of the District of Bromsgrove are being encouraged to get creative to celebrate a once in a lifetime event…..The Queen’s Baton Relay
The Queen’s Baton Relay event will be taking place at Sanders Park, around the Bandstand, on the morning of July 23, from 9am. The relay will take approximately 25 minutes and a celebratory event will be held in the park from 9am – 11am, as part of this to include live music and other demonstrations
As part of this celebration you are invited to create an artwork, in response to the theme of celebration, community and the Commonwealth games, to be displayed in your homes and communities across the district and you are invited to share digitally the content.
There will be a focus on encouraging residents to focus on paint rocks which will be displayed in the peace garden at Sanders Park, leading up to and on the day of the event but you are free to choose which sort of art form you’d like to create and are free to express yourself in celebration of the occasion. It could be paintings, poetry, music, or anything else appropriate and on theme
Alongside this, invite residents are invited to come on the day of the event dressed in their chosen colours of the Commonwealth and to bring flags, bought or made, to create ‘colours of the Commonwealth’. We will invite the community in Bromsgrove district to the event around the bandstand.
