Sir Laurie Bristow was the United Kingdom’s Ambassador to Afghanistan when the Taliban overthrew the government and took power in August 2021. His book, Kabul: Final Call, is a first-hand account of the final days of the Republic and the evacuation of Kabul. A career diplomat, Laurie was previously the UK Ambassador to Russia. He is now President of Hughes Hall, Cambridge University, and regularly publishes and broadcasts on geopolitics.
